Dear National Centers, dear International Councillors and dear members UNIMA,

Only four months have passed since the

beginning of our mandate, and it’s still too early to draw a balance. Certainly, if we were to start from the atmosphere at the UNIMA Happy Apéro at the FMTM in Charleville Mézières, we could be satisfied!. In the beautiful courtyard of the Maison des Ailleurs, despite the unfavorable weather, countless people met every day and shared thoughts and ideas with the enthusiasm of those who know they are experiencing a new phase in the great adventure that is UNIMA.

UNIMA AT FMTM 2025 -REPORT

 

This year, UNIMA’s presence at the Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes (FMTM) in Charleville-Mézières started within the Garden of Inspiration — the poetic home once belonging to Arthur Rimbaud, where the legendary poet lived and wrote before leaving for Paris.

Project Highlights


Puppet Construction and Manipuation

A few days ago, the regional training Pro-Vocation Roots & Wings – Mali was launched for West African puppeteers, focusing on puppet construction with digital support materials created by British puppeteer Alison Duddle.

The training is organized by UNIMA Mali, with the support of UNESCO and in partnership with UNIMA International, as well as the National Centres UNIMA Kenya and UNIMA South Africa.

The project aims to strengthen the professional skills of puppeteers across the African continent and to encourage the creation of innovative forms in the field of contemporary puppetry.

Call for Applications - AVIAMA 2026 GRANTS

Deadline, January 16th

For the 8th consecutive year, AVIAMA is launching its “Puppets and Mobility” International Grants — a program designed to support mobility for artists, researchers, and professionals in the field of puppetry.

These grants aim to facilitate travel and accommodation, often the main obstacles to realizing creative and research projects, and to encourage artistic collaboration across borders.

39th International Theatrical Festival ‘VALISE’ - Poland

Deadline, January 15th

The VALISE Festival is a renowned and highly respected international theatre event. For many years this event has attracted outstanding artists and theatre companies from around the world.

Over time, more than 370 theatres from 50 countries have participated in the Festival, including the United States, Japan, China, Argentina, New Zealand, Iran, Spain, Israel, Canada, the Netherlands, Singapore, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Germany, and many others.
